Andrew Montano Jr., retired electrical engineer

Andrew “Andy” Montano Jr., 87, of Lewes, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, in his home.

He was born April 11, 1937, to Andrew and Lucille (Van Horn) Montano in Brooklyn, N.Y. He graduated from Lehigh University and worked for New Jersey Public Service as an electrical engineer for 37 years before retiring.  Andy married Geraldine Banks in October 1960.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Lucille; and his son Andrew ‘Drew’ Montano III. Andy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine; his daughter, Donna (Greg) Shonle of Boulder, Colo., his son, Marc (Susan) Montano of Oshkosh, Wis.; and four grandsons, Brandon and Ryan Shonle, and Matthew and Daniel Montano. Andy is also survived by his brother, Robert (Eleanor) Montano of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; his sister, Nancy (John) Bunce of Sewickley, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.

His hobbies included folk dancing, teaching folk dancing, sailing, and working on his Lionel model train layout with his grandsons.

Andy is very much loved by his family and friends, and will be greatly missed.

All services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Andy’s memory to Brandywine Valley SPCA.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.
