Ann Louise King, loved church, helping others
Ann Louise King, 75, of Millsboro, formerly of New Castle County, peacefully went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, surrounded by family at Accent Care Hospice, ChristianaCare in Newark.
Ann was born in Wilmington May 14, 1948, daughter of the late Harold F. Haigh and the late Ann Louise (Vari) Haigh. She was a graduate of Conrad High School in Wilmington.
After graduating from high school, Ann began a career as a legal secretary with Delaware Superior Court and then at Wilmington Trust. She later enjoyed working with her sister at The Furniture
Solution and Choice Seating in their sales department.
Ann loved her church, Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown, and enjoyed going to lunch with ladies from her Bible study, and later from her cardiac rehab group. She was a true caregiver, and was always available to lend a helping hand, which showed in her volunteering efforts with Delaware Hospice. Ann was a devoted sports mom. Above all else, she loved spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Capt. (Ret.) Kenneth King; brother, Harold F. Haigh; and sister, Carol Ferguson. She is survived by two sons, Jamie “Jay” King (Amie) of Millsboro, and Michael King of Sussex County; three grandchildren, Makenzie King, Ariel King and Jameson King; her brother-in-law, T. Michael Ferguson of New Castle; nieces, Kimberly and Christine; nephews, Thomas Michael Ferguson (Joey) of California, and Harold; and several great-nieces and -nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro, where friends and family may visit after 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Conley’s Chapel Cemetery in Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Ann’s name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
