Arthur Clarence Truitt, Air Force veteran
Arthur Clarence Truitt passed away Monday, July 29, 2024, with his daughter by his side. He was born in Millsboro May 4, 1931, son of the late William and Mary Truitt.
He spent his entire life in Millsboro. He attended Millsboro High School before entering the U.S. Air Force. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1953, he served in the Air Force Reserves until 1958. Once out of the military, he worked for the State of Delaware as an electrician at the Stockley Center in Georgetown. Arthur enjoyed bowling, woodworking, making clocks, traveling with his wife, and camping with family and friends. He could fix anything and loved to tinker in his workshop. He enjoyed target shooting and hunting in his younger years. Arthur was a member of Carey’s Church in Millsboro. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a past commander of VFW Post 7422. He was also a member of the NRA. He loved the American flag, and one flew in his yard at every house he lived in.
Arthur is survived by his daughter, Bonnie VanBuskirk (Edgar Palmer) of Florida; three grandchildren, Joshua VanBuskirk of California, Chelsea VanBuskirk of England, and Brianna VanBuskirk of Colorado; two brothers, Virgil (Charlene) and Melvin Truitt; sister-in-law, Wilma Graham (Bruce); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Helen M. Truitt; daughter, Cindy Robinson; son-in-law, Manaen Robinson; sisters, Jean Hudson and Elizabeth Rayner; and brother, William Truitt.
A funeral service and Celebration of Arthur’s Life will be held at noon, Monday, Aug. 5, at Watson Funeral Home & Crematorium, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call beginning at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will immediately follow at Carey’s Cemetery, Conaway Road, Millsboro.
