Artist reception with Jonathan Spivak set July 19 at Gallery 50
Retrospective – Abstracts and Color, an exhibit of works by Jonathan Spivak, will open with a reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 19, at Gallery 50, 50A Wilmington Ave., Rehoboth Beach. The show will be on display through Wednesday, Aug. 7.
An abstract artist who uses liquid acrylics and acrylics mixed with water as his medium, Spivak will be on hand to meet attendees and talk about his work.
His artistic philosophy is to follow his heart and use the artistic language of imagination as well as emotions and life experiences as means to express his vision. He is a colorist and uses varying degrees of tone, intensity and brightness of color to influence the viewer.
Born and raised in New York, Spivak began to experiment with painting in the late 1970s and has painted seriously since the late ‘80s. He moved to Bethany Beach in 1993 and opened Sedona, the first of his three celebrated restaurants. Fusion and Salt Air opened in 1996 and 2009, respectively. The restaurants served as galleries for Spivak’s culinary and artistic creations.
His paintings have been featured in restaurants and are in private collections throughout the United States.
