Atlantic Transportation Services names Marlon Sparks partner

February 22, 2016

Marlon Sparks, a devoted driver and longtime mainstay for Atlantic Transportation Services since it was known as Bayside Limousine, was officially named a partner in the company beginning in January 2016. Sparks has been an integral part of the company since 2007, and the existing ownership team of Tyrone Gale, Steve Montgomery and Chip Thompson felt it was time that Sparks transition into an ownership role as well.

Atlantic was founded in 2013 when Gale, Montgomery and Thompson purchased Bayside Limousine, the limousine company Gale founded in 2007 and built from the ground up. The team rebranded Bayside as Atlantic Transportation Services in March 2013. Since then, the company has grown from eight vehicles to 15 and solidified itself as the premier limousine and transportation company on the Delmarva peninsula.

Atlantic’s attention to detail and the emphasis it places on delivering the highest quality customer service have bolstered the company's good reputation. This is in no small part due to the example set by Sparks.

Tyrone Gale, president of Atlantic Transportation Services, said,  “Marlon Sparks and I met in difficult times of our lives. We quickly became friends and then co-workers. His dedication to Atlantic is beyond what most employees give to a company. The Sparks way is to be positive and always best your best. When it came time for Marlon to become a partner, it was a no-brainer.”

Sparks grew up in Chestertown, Md., and joined the Navy in 1975. He served his country admirably from 1975 until he retired in 1996. From 1997 to 2007 he worked for the Delaware Department of Correction. Upon leaving the DOC, Sparks joined Gale at Bayside Limousines and began his driving career. He has been with the company ever since and was a steady hand and reliable employee while the company transitioned from Bayside to Atlantic Transportation Services.

2015 was a banner year for Atlantic Transportation Services. The company has nearly doubled the fleet size and has more than doubled the gross revenue of Bayside Limousine’s biggest year, which was 2012. With that sort of rapid growth, the owners of Atlantic knew it was important to have a business partner who could focus on training and developing new drivers and molding them to fit the high standards Atlantic demands.

Sparks will continue in his role as lead driver and will also lend his expertise to the company by helping Atlantic’s drivers to understand the skills required to be top-notch chauffeurs. Teaching the proper etiquette, driving skills and safety procedures to new chauffeurs are responsibilities that Sparks welcomes. Excellence in chauffeuring is something that is now second nature to Sparks. He says,  “That’s what we do!”
