June 4, 2024

Atracare recently announced mental health therapist Marie Hudson LACMH, CADC, DE-CMHS, has joined the practice.

With 12 years of experience in behavioral health, Hudson takes a holistic approach to therapy, considering both internal and external influences on her clients' lives. Her genuine, eclectic, nonjudgmental approach creates a safe space for effective interaction with clients.

Hudson's therapy is practical, realistic and grounded. She has worked in medication-assisted treatment and clinical outpatient settings as a peer counselor and in leadership, serving clients with substance use disorder, mental health conditions and co-occurring diagnoses.

Centered around the individual, Hudson’s counseling style incorporates various techniques to help clients develop the necessary skills to deal with life's challenges and difficulties. When people visit her office, they experience a safe and welcoming space where they can openly discuss concerns and discover the solutions that will empower them to progress in life while achieving their goals. Hudson specializes in treating clients with schizophrenia, PTSD, trauma and complex trauma, as well as addressing issues related to abuse, sexual abuse, personality disorders, mood disorders and other mental health disorders, addictions, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders. Hudson also has extensive experience working with first responders, individuals dealing with grief and loss, survivors of domestic violence, and individuals who have committed sexual offenses.

Originally from upstate Delaware, Hudson is happy to live at the beach. In her free time, Hudson enjoys playing with her pit bull Ginger Mae, spending time with her family, traveling and being outdoors as much as possible.

Hudson is also part of the community response team serving reported hotspots for overdoses in Delaware. She is a volunteer firefighter and EMT in her hometown.
