Ballet Theatre of Dover to present 'Flower Festival at Genzano' May 18 and 19

Guest artist Justin Koertgen will perform the famed "Flower Festival at Genzano" pas de deux with two local dancers, Allison Wilkins, 16,  and Sara Biscardi, 22, in the Ballet Theatre of Dover's Classics and More performance Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19.

Wilkins is a sophomore at Milford High School and performed the roles of Clara and the Sugar Plum Fairy in the 2012 version of "The Nutcracker" at the Schwartz Center. Biscardi is an alumna of Dance Conservatory and has danced the same roles several times, in addition to lead roles in "Swan Lake," "Don Quixote" and "La Sylphide."

Koertgen danced with The Joffrey Ballet and Dayton Ballet and danced leads in the ballets “Dracula,” “Hamlet" and "The Who’s Tommy” in addition to the standard classical staples of "Swan Lake," "Sleeping Beauty" and "The Nutcracker."

Koertgen will also perform a pas de deux in the "Jumpin' Jack" finale number in the suite of contemporary dances "Ruminations." The suite will feature multifaceted explorations of poetry, lyrics and human relationships in contemporary dances to music of Florence & the Machine, Imogen Heap and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Poet and writer Nathan Simms, who has guested in poetry raps in the area, has written complementary materials.

Ballet Theatre of Dover is the performing company of the Dance Conservatory. Students of the Dance Cosnervatory have performed with the Pennsylvania Ballet, Boston Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Richmond Ballet, Dutch National Ballet among others and also Broadway shows and touring companies.

The Saturday, May 18, performance will take place at 7 p.m., and the Sunday, May 19, performance at 2 p.m., both in the In-Studio Theatre.
