Barbara Rae Hageman, woman of faith

December 11, 2024

Barbara Rae Hageman was unexpectedly taken home to our Lord Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, due to a car accident near her home in Millsboro. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by her sudden passing. Barabara was born Sept. 25, 1945, in Shabbona, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Aliene Smith; her birth parents, Tex and Vera DeFord Roberts; brothers, Craig Roberts Fairall and Vernon Roberts; and sisters, Betty Weber and “Barbara” Teeny Dart.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Fredrick John Hageman; son, Frederick James Hageman and wife Cassey; daughter, Heather Aliene Bethurum and husband Corey; son, Andrew Thomas Hageman and wife Kelly; grandchildren, Oscar, Almalinda, Analucia, and Joana Pearl Hageman, and Tiffany Nichole Matthews-Miller; and her sister, Vanessa Harris.

Barbara had recently survived her eight-year battle with cancer and had been completely cured before the Lord called her home. She lived her faith as an example for everyone around her and never met a person she would not pray for or talk to about God. Her children made her a mother; however, she was a mother to anyone she met. She was an amazing influence and mentor at Lighthouse Christian School and countless other institutions, and her legacy will carry on.

A service to celebrate Barbara’s life and reception will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Dagsboro Church of God, 32224 DuPont Blvd., Dagsboro. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Christian School by calling 302-732-3309 or visiting lighthousechristianschool.com
