Bayhealth mobile clinic to bring care into communities
Bayhealth welcomes health on the move to central and southern Delaware with Bayhealth Mobile Care, a new 36-foot medical recreational vehicle. The rolling clinic will soon hit the streets to provide care to underserved and hard-to-reach communities throughout Delaware.
“Bayhealth Mobile Care will ensure we are doing everything we can to take care of our most vulnerable community members,” said Rosi Wurster, DNP, RN, MPH, NEA-BC, CEN, Bayhealth chief nurse executive. “Bayhealth’s mission is to strengthen the health of our community one life at a time, and sometimes caring for the health of our community goes beyond the walls of our outpatient centers and hospitals.”
Made possible by generous grants from Longwood Foundation and Welfare Foundation, Bayhealth’s Mobile Care unit was designed and built from the ground up to help address the health needs of the communities Bayhealth serves. Equipped with a private examination room, bathroom and two hearing screening booths, it will offer various health screenings and vaccinations, and provide educational information throughout the region. The exterior includes an awning that can extend several feet to provide shade. Bayhealth invested the additional funds needed to secure a state-of-the-art unit made specifically to serve community members where they live and work in Sussex and Kent counties.
“Bayhealth has for many years offered services in central and southern Delaware like those we’ll be offering through Bayhealth Mobile Care. This new unit takes those services to the next level as well as offering several additional services,” said Lindsay Rhodenbaugh, DMin, Bayhealth Foundation president.
Bayhealth Mobile Care will also enable Bayhealth to continue to serve the community through its on-site occupational health services including hearing tests, physical exams, laboratory work and echocardiograms, helping support local businesses and their team members.
“We love the ease of using Bayhealth’s Mobile Unit every year for our CDL physicals; the ability to have them come to us makes life easier for both the City of Rehoboth Beach as an employer and our employees,” said Jean Hendershott-Lee, City of Rehoboth Beach human resources administrator.
