Bayhealth nurse Devon Culver honored with DAISY Award

July 18, 2023

Bayhealth nurses are known for going above and beyond the call of duty, and Patient Care Services Nurse Devon Culver, RN, is no exception. His dedication to his department and patients is what earned him a DAISY Award.

After working a full day in the operating room, Culver went home to spend time with his wife and children. When he received a call from the nurse supervisor who needed a second team on hand for a pediatric motor vehicle trauma, Culver returned to the hospital without hesitation.

A staff nurse who nominated Culver for the award said showing up for his team and his patients is not at all out of character for him.

“He consistently puts the needs of Bayhealth and his department ahead of his own personal convenience. His patients and their safety are his priority at all times,” the nominator said.

The DAISY Award is given by the DAISY Foundation, which was formed in 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes. The Barnes family wanted to recognize the nurses who cared for Patrick and all the other unsung heroes of the nursing profession.

DAISY Award honorees are chosen by nurses, administrators, peers, physicians, volunteers, patients and family. To nominate a deserving nurse, go Bayhealth.org/DAISY and fill out the form.
