November 1, 2022

Bayhealth announced board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist Fiza Khan, MD, has joined its psychiatry and mental health services practice, and is accepting new patients.

“We’re very excited that Dr. Fiza Khan is here as Bayhealth’s first employed child and adolescent psychiatrist,” said Lawrence Ward, MD, MPH, FACP, Bayhealth vice president, physician services and clinical integration. “Expanding into mental health services was a significant step forward for Bayhealth Medical Group, as we know this is such a vital service for our community, and early intervention is key. Dr. Khan is an exemplary physician with a kind and compassionate manner who will benefit many children, teens and families in our area.”

Most recently, Khan worked at Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake, Wash., where she provided outpatient child and adolescent psychiatric medicine. Her work experience also includes psychiatric care for children and adolescents at the Mercy Clinic in Festus, Mo. She has a medical degree from American University of Antigua, in Antigua, West Indies. She completed a residency in Philadelphia at Hahnemann Hospital’s Department of Adult Psychiatry, where she was named Cognitive Behavioral Therapist of the Year. She went on to complete a fellowship and served as chief fellow with the department of child and adolescent psychiatry at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Khan is available to provide medication management for children and adolescents up to age 18 to address a range of mental health needs. She commonly treats conditions such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, high-functioning autism, depression and anxiety, and a variety of neurodevelopment disorders and mood disorders. She also aids patients and their families with referrals for other needed services and resources.

Khan sees patients at Bayhealth Psychiatry & Mental Health Services, located at 530 S. State St. in Dover. To schedule an appointment, call 302-608-5299.
