Beach Bus in service for Rehoboth Beach fireworks July 2
The 2023 Beach Bus season is off to a record start with more than 45,000 riders during its first month of operation that began May 22, exceeding the previous first-month ridership record set in May 2019.
“With peak summer travel still ahead, we anticipate ridership continuing to be strong as residents and guests take advantage of the convenience offered by the Beach Bus,” said Nicole Majeski, Delaware Department of Transportation secretary.
Delaware Transit Corporation CEO John Sisson said, “Ridership this year is already 17% higher than last year and nearly 7% higher than 2019, when we set our previous high for ridership. DART is the fast, economical and easy way to reach Delaware’s beaches.”
The Beach Bus will also be providing service to the Rehoboth Beach fireworks event Sunday, July 2, which is expected to begin around 9:30 p.m. Riders can avoid traffic and parking issues, and be dropped off in town.
