Beacon girls defeat Mariner in middle school matchup

The annual Beacon versus Mariner girls’ basketball clash went to the Beacon Vikings 29-10 in a competitive, action-packed contest. 

Beacon’s Kha'Nihya Johnson led all scorers with eight points. Ally Diehl scored seven, while Mairead Rishko tallied six. Amara Fruchtman hit four points. Harper Mamele and Haley Gumuciello each hit a basket. 

Jordynn Bowe led the Mariner squad with six points, while Kate Hill scored four.

Beacon will play Milford Middle Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Capital Classic, while Mariner will finish its regular season Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Dover Central Middle.

He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C.
