Beebe Auxiliary has once again demonstrated its dedication to helping Beebe Healthcare advance exceptional patient care by donating $42,000 to the nonprofit health system this year.
This generous gift will support equipment improvements at Beebe’s two comprehensive cancer centers – the Tunnell Cancer Center near Rehoboth Beach and the South Coastal Cancer Center near Millville, enhancing the technology and resources available for cancer treatment and patient care.
The check was presented to Dr. David A. Tam, Beebe Healthcare president and CEO, and Kay Young, Beebe Medical Foundation executive director of development, by Wendell Alfred, auxiliary president.
“We are deeply grateful for the auxiliary’s generosity and unwavering support,” Young said. “Their contributions ensure that we can continue providing state-of-the-art care and the most advanced resources to our patients across all of our campuses.”
The auxiliary has been raising funds for Beebe since 1936. It has donated more than $6.1 million to support critical projects and patient care advancements.
“Eighty-eight years later, the Auxiliary is still committed to raising money for Beebe for life-saving equipment and the betterment of healthcare in our community,” Alfred said.
The auxiliary operates the Beebe gift shops at both the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus and the Specialty Surgical Hospital on the Abessinio Health Campus, in addition to sponsoring numerous fundraising events throughout the year. The monies raised have supported vital initiatives such as the renovation of the second floor of the Lewes campus for women’s health services, the addition of bariatric chambers, and purchase of advanced equipment at the Tunnell Cancer Center. Notably, auxiliary donations funded navigational bronchoscopy technology that immediately saved a patient’s life after being deployed in the emergency department.
This is all thanks to the dedicated men and women of the auxiliary, which is seeking new members to lead the next era of this historic organization. There are two membership levels: Active members may volunteer in a way that meets their personal abilities and time restraints, while inactive members support the auxiliary as ambassadors of goodwill.
