Beebe Healthcare is partnering with two firms to streamline its revenue collection and supply chain operations to ensure money and jobs stay in Sussex County.
Dr. David Tam, Beebe president and CEO, said in the coming months, about 260 employees in Beebe’s revenue cycle department will transition to Ensemble Health Partners.
Ensemble is an Ohio-based revenue cycle company that uses technology to improve health providers’ bottom lines.
Three Beebe supply chain employees will transition to another firm, Premier Nexera. Nexera is a supply chain management and services organization.
Tam said there will not be any layoffs or any jobs leaving Sussex County.
“We need to optimize the revenue we generate. Ensemble has significant technology and resources to make sure we are getting paid for all the work we do,” Tam said.
Tam said patients will not see any change in the bills they receive from Beebe. But he said he expects insurance companies will see a difference.
He said Ensemble will use best practices help Beebe get insurance reimbursements faster and more accurately.
“We can’t just raise prices for procedures or lab tests, so we need to generate every penny we can get,” Tam said.
In a news release, Beebe said that moving three supply chain employees to the Nexera team will save money.
“Supply prices continue to go up. We will be able to access national pricing, provide the best-in-class purchasing and distribution across our growing network in Sussex County,” Tam said.
Tam said the partnerships are cost-neutral for Beebe.
“It’s about growth, not about cost reduction,” he said. “We now have the strength to climb a mountain, move forward with expanding healthcare in Sussex County.”
Tam said Beebe is planning to expand campuses in Millville, Millsboro and elsewhere in the county.
In February, Beebe Healthcare received its second-largest philanthropic donation ever, a $6 million gift from the Rocco A. and Mary Abessinio Foundation.
