Beebe Healthcare to host 20th annual Walk to Remember Oct. 13

October 1, 2024

Beebe Healthcare Perinatal Loss Support Services will host the 20th annual Walk to Remember at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 13, at George H.P. Smith Park near Blockhouse Pond in Lewes. In case of rain, the event will be held Sunday, Oct. 20.

The Walk to Remember is held annually to offer families the opportunity to honor the memory of babies who have died through tubal pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal or infant death. Beebe’s event is the only Walk to Remember held in Delaware to specifically commemorate pregnancy and infant loss. Similar walks take place nationwide each fall in honor of October’s designation as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.

Participants may preregister or register on site the day of the walk. Attendees will gather at the Blockhouse Pond pavilion before the half-mile walk, and then proceed as a group along the paved walkway around the pond. At the end of the walk, a short memorial service will take place to honor the memory of those lost.

Parents wishing to have the names of their infant(s) included in the program will need to submit a registration form by Tuesday, Oct. 1. Parents and grandparents who preregister will receive a memorial T-shirt at no cost based on availability, so early registration is encouraged. Friends, other family members and supporters may purchase a T-shirt for $10.

For more information or to register, contact Barbara Rogers at Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing, 302-645-3251.
