Beebe Healthcare suspends elective outpatient diagnostic testing, screening and rehab

March 20, 2020

To continue the effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, Beebe Healthcare is suspending all non-urgent diagnostic testing, physical rehabilitation and screenings.

This includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cardiac rehab and pulmonary rehab. Beebe is postponing all non-urgent outpatient diagnostic exams and services for at least six weeks (May 4) and will re-evaluate as that date approaches.

Beebe is taking these precautionary measures based on guidance from the Surgeon General, American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and in alignment with other acute-care facilities in this region. Earlier this week, Beebe also postponed elective surgical procedures. Patients will receive a call from their Beebe Medical Group surgeon or provider about rescheduling.

Urgent procedures and tests will still be provided. Contact one’s provider for more information. Urgent services will be held at Beebe Healthcare satellites and other health campuses, which include the Rehoboth Health Campus, and Milton, Millsboro, Millville, and Georgetown satellite campuses.

At Beebe Healthcare’s Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus, no outpatient lab and diagnostic imaging will be performed. This includes non-urgent cardiac stress tests and vascular studies.

Beebe is continuing to evaluate all processes to ensure the utmost safety of the community. They realize that this might be a hindrance for some, and apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. They feel that taking this precaution now in order to protect the safety of those in Beebe facilities is the highest priority.
