Beebe L.O.V.E. Letter Award honors Julio Tijerina

Beebe Healthcare recognized Julio Tijerina as its October recipient of the Living Our Values Every Day Letter Award.

A CAT scan technologist, Tijerina was awarded this recognition for going above and beyond to ensure that a patient received lifesaving diagnostic imaging in a timely manner.

“The emergency department was extremely busy at a time Julio received an order for a patient needing a CT scan on their head for stroke protocol,” wrote Bobbi Cole, stroke coordinator, in a letter nominating Tijerina for this award. “The nurse for this patient was in the middle of helping another ambulance patient, so Julio went and got the patient himself to take to CT.”

Tijerina’s actions helped the patient get the vital testing done right away and also helped the ED staff during a stressful time.

“I thanked Julio for doing what he did and told him how the patient, the family, myself and the ED staff were all appreciative of him going above and beyond,” said Cole. “His response was, ‘I was just doing my job.’”

Awardees are announced in a surprise ceremony during which the committee visits the winner in their department and presents the award. Employees selected for the award receive a space in the parking garage for one month; a $100 gift card; 100 points toward Beebe L.O.V.E. Notes merchandise; 100th anniversary history book, “Two Men With a Dream: The Story of Beebe Healthcare”; a letter of congratulations and personal visit from members of the executive team; their photo added to the L.O.V.E. Letter wall plaque; a letter to the team member's director; and department recognition.
