The Beebe Hospital School of Nursing class of 1967 held its 45th reunion in Lewes Oct. 20.
Ten of the class’s 14 graduates came to Beebe Medical Center to see how much has changed over more than four decades. Returning nurses came from Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia and Delaware.
The reunion was dedicated to Sandra Lowery Warrington, a classmate and Lewes native who lost her life to breast cancer soon after graduating.
The class was given a tour of the hospital by Connie Bushey, executive director of the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Medical Center.
The group reminisced about hard work, long hours, fun times, and generous support they received from the Town of Lewes and its many merchants.
They said the town, doctors, nurses and nursing school started them in successful careers as medical-surgical, school, occupational health, operating room, psychiatric, paralegal and doctor’s office nurses, as well as nursing directors and medical center administrators.
Shown at the reunion are in back (l-r) Cheryl Jackson, Barbara McLane, Sharon Challmes, Betty Scalera and Olga Fitch. In front are Carolyn Wood, Donna Jean Sarik, Joyce Wheatley and Jean Murphy. Helen Bedford attended, but was absent for the photo.
