Beebe selects Epic to transform electronic health record system

July 11, 2024

Beebe Healthcare announced an agreement with leading healthcare software company Epic to transform the system’s electronic health record platform to provide a more seamless, integrated care experience for patients in Sussex County.

Epic’s innovative platform will allow Beebe to have one single, comprehensive and consolidated medical records system throughout all Beebe entities, including Beebe Medical Group and Oncology Services, which currently operate on separate applications.

“Beebe’s transformational journey involves preparing an advanced healthcare delivery system to meet the growing needs of our patients. This is a significant moment to launch us into a future that will impact every aspect of our strategic plan and create a more patient-centered and comprehensive community healthcare system,” said Dr. David A. Tam, Beebe Healthcare president and CEO. “Aligning our EHR solution with the needs of our patients, clinicians and caregivers will ensure the very safest and highest quality of care for Sussex County.”

Beebe officials chose Epic, which serves more than 2,900 hospitals and 280 million patients in the United States alone, as its single EHR system due to its strong functional offerings and significantly higher patient satisfaction scores. With Epic, Beebe will evolve into a one-patient, one-record reality across its entire health system – improving patient care, enhancing the patient experience and expanding community health initiatives.

The single-system platform will provide the full spectrum of patient health records, including ambulatory health, revenue cycle management, data analytics, business intelligence and more.

Patients do not need to take any action at this time. System-wide implementation is planned for 2025.
