Beth Ellen Heroux, had zest for life
Beth Ellen Heroux (née Glenn) sadly passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Beth was born in Harrisburg, Pa., May 8, 1961, and raised in Wilmington. She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she was a proud member of the tennis team, earning a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She later earned a master’s degree in education from Temple University, which paved the way for her career in education, with her becoming the assistant principal at Greens Farms Elementary School in Westport, Conn., serving in that role for over 20 years, contributing mightily to that institution's remarkable success over the years. Throughout her career as a teacher and administrator, she was passionate about creating inclusive programs for students with special needs.
Beth’s unwavering faith, devotion to her family, and deep connections with friends served as the foundation for her joyful and positive spirit. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel valued. Her smile, laughter, and warmth will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Beth was a friend maker, always bringing treats or flowers, sending thoughtful cards and texts, and keeping in touch through long phone conversations or visits.
Above all, Beth was a loving and caring wife, daughter, and sister, who blessed each of our lives with countless cherished memories.
Beth is survived by her husband, Robert O. Heroux; her mother, Raeann Schaffer; and her sister, Alisa Jayne Glenn (Marty Curl). She was preceded in death by her father, James Lynch Glenn.
The family extends a special thank you to the compassionate staff at Tunnell Cancer Center, who cared for Beth throughout her three-and-a-half-year battle with ovarian cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 10, at Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Church St., Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Compassion International for the care and education of children living in poverty around the world or to Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance for research to combat ovarian cancer.
