Bethany Beach Books will host a book-signing event with Milton author Karl Wegener from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, at 99 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach.
Wegener will sign copies of his debut novel, “Grown Men Cry Out at Night,” a Cold War-era espionage thriller. He will also talk about the history behind the book and answer readers’ questions.
Inspired by true events and set in Bremen, Germany, in 1946 at the dawn of the Cold War, “Grown Men Cry Out at Night” tells the story of a battle-weary U.S. Army counterintelligence agent who discovers his own family’s complicity in war crimes. This revelation comes as he hunts down the perpetrators responsible for the deaths of thousands of enslaved workers at a secret submarine assembly facility known as the Valentin Bunker.
Wegener served as a Russian linguist in the U.S. Army Security Agency.
