Bette K. Short, incredible baker
Bette K. Short, 90, of Georgetown, “The Cake Lady,” passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, March 23, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born Feb. 25, 1934, to Fredrick and Elizabeth Kart. Bette grew up on Long Island, N.Y.
Bette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her home was always open and welcomed everyone.
Bette was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Albert Short; and her daughter, Cindy Lou. She has left behind her five children, Sharon O’Day (John) of Georgetown, Cheryl Dorman (Sonny) of Georgetown, Crystal Conaway (Gary) of Georgetown, Albert Short II of Ellendale, and Leona McInerny (Jay) of Covington, Ga.; and she was blessed with seven grandchildren, John O’Day, Jennifer Emerson, Melissa Byrd, Greg Conaway, Curtis Conaway, Shea Amor and Tristan McInerny. Bette truly enjoyed spending time with her 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and her many nieces and nephews.
Bette was a very creative individual; she not only had a talent for art but was an incredible baker. She will be truly missed by her loved ones and so many more.
Burial will be private.
