Beverly Feidel, loved teaching, animals

August 2, 2023

Beverly Feidel, 75, of Milton, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Bayhealth Center in Milford. She was born Nov. 1, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Charles and Eleanor (Leibowitz) Caplan.

Known to her friends and family as "Boovy," Beverly married Jan Feidel Nov. 7, 1971. She was a beloved teacher at Pastorius Elementary School in the Germantown section of Philadelphia throughout her teaching career, where she was known for her high spirits, great humor, and the love she showed the children she taught. An activist on behalf of animals, Boovy was awarded a statewide commendation as Pennsylvania humane educator of the year. She was beloved by all who had the good fortune to be her friend. She loved opera and frequented the Met, paying special attention to Puccini. Her wit and quickness of mind were priceless. She brought great joy to people.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Jan, who is grateful for the 52 years they spent together; her daughter, Carolyn Rachel Feidel (Alex Mueller) of Brooklyn, N.Y; and her granddaughter, Juno Eloise Mueller of Brooklyn, the bright light of her later years upon whom she bestowed everything in her power.

Final care for Beverly has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beverly's memory to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Washington D.C.; Seaside Jewish Community, Rehoboth Beach; a local SPCA (such as the one at 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947); or Metropolitan Opera, NYC.
