Bloody Mary contest set at Starboard May 15
The Starboard Restaurant is known for its colossal Bloody Mary bar where patrons can build the ultimate Bloody Mary to cure what ails them. Besides having a spread fit for a king or queen, the bartenders and chefs at The Starboard know quite a lot about building the perfect savory beverage. While they like to strut their stuff at other local competitions, there is nothing like the home field advantage.
That’s why everyone at the Starboard is pumped up for the annual Bloody Mary contest set for 3:30 p.m., Sunday, May 15.
The 2016 contest will be in the spirit of years past where the Tito’s vodka is the perfect spike in the creative cocktails that will be concocted by area restaurants in a throw down for the Starboard’s own best bloody title.
This year’s competitors include Woody’s, Rusty Rudder, 99 Sea Level, Henlopen City Oyster House, SoDel Concepts Group, Dewey Beach Beer Company, and The Starboard, to name a few. Co-owner Dickie Heidenberger hosts the event in his colorful style. The judges this year are Wendy Beavers, Seth Costello, Steve Taylor, Jimmy O’Conor and Ducky Sheets.
Everyone is invited to come root for their favorite team, enjoy a bloody and a sandpile, and get in on the shenanigans as The Starboard crew builds a bold and wild bloody to defend their home turf.
