Bonnie David appointed as master in Delaware Court of Chancery
The Delaware Administrative Office of the Courts announced Jan. 3 that Bonnie W. David has joined the Court of Chancery as a master in chancery, with chambers at the Court of Chancery Courthouse in Georgetown.
Prior to joining the bench, David was a litigator in private practice with a focus on deal litigation, corporate statutory proceedings and contract disputes, and she also advised on corporate governance and transactions.
David graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2013, where she served as senior editor on the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. She received her B.A. from Boston University, graduating summa cum laude. Immediately after law school, David clerked in the Court of Chancery for Vice Chancellor Sam Glasscock III.
Glasscock said, “This court, and the people and state it serves, are very fortunate to get a master with the experience, intelligence, work ethic and demeanor of Bonnie David. And personally, it is a great pleasure to welcome her back to Sussex County.”
David has been active in the Delaware legal community, serving as a director of the Delaware Bar Foundation board, treasurer of the Historical Society for the Delaware Court of Chancery, and an associate member of the Board of Bar Examiners of the Delaware Supreme Court.
David has published dozens of articles on a variety of Chancery-specific topics, including articles for Delaware Lawyer, Delaware Business Court Insider, The M&A Lawyer, Transaction Advisors, Practical Law, Law 360 and the University of Pennsylvania Law Review.
David replaces Master Patricia Griffin, who retired from full-time service in December and will continue to serve the court in a part-time capacity.
The Court of Chancery now has 10 judicial officers, the largest number in its history, including the chancellor, six vice chancellors and three masters in chancery.
