Boy Scout Troop 95 camps out in treehouse, spends day at beach

The weekend of June 24 to 26 offered a unique campout for the scouts and leaders of Troop 95 from Georgetown. The scouts met at Jones Hall June 24, loaded their gear in the scout van and then were transported to a treehouse just outside Georgetown.

This was not an ordinary treehouse; this treehouse had electricity, a small kitchen, running water and an indoor bathroom - luxuries the scouts were not used to on a campout. After setting up a small camp, the scouts enjoyed several games of croquet and then spent time around the campfire.

Saturday morning was also a different day of activities for the scouts as they got into their swimsuits and loaded up to head to Cape Henlopen State Park. The day was spent at the beach, enjoying the sun, surf, sights, lunch and digging in the sand.  After a day at the beach, the only place to stop for dinner is the Dairy Queen.

Then it was back to the treehouse for a tour of a table-top garden, a handmade canoe and handmade Native American flutes, which the scouts described as awesome. Saturday night brought more games of croquet, hot dogs, cupcakes, brownies and a great campfire.

On Sunday morning, scouts cleaned up, loaded gear on the scout van and attended church services. Troop 95 expresses its many thanks to Justin Cotter, Jen Cotter, Adam Schneider, Barbi and Kim Pearce for helping with transportation on this campout.
