Boy Scouts and Bella Terra Landscapes help St. Peter's renovate labyrinth
While part of the Bella Terra Landscapes team was releasing ladybugs at Milford’s Bug and Bud Festival April 23, other team members were assisting Boy Scout Troop No. 1 in Lewes as they worked at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church to rebuild the labyrinth on the church grounds. The labyrinth was built by St. Peter’s members in response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in 2001. This outside sanctuary provides a haven for people who continue to walk the labyrinth both day and night, as they seek tranquility or just want to experience the journey of peace that it provides.
When this special place had to be removed to accommodate renovations to the cemetery, the St. Peter’s community knew they had to re-establish it as soon as possible. As part of his Eagle Scout project, Austin Ross and fellow scouts along with technicians provided by Bella Terra Landscapes began reconstruction. They began by laying sod and will begin to lay the stones for the labyrinth over Memorial Day weekend. Rector Jeff Ross said, “St. Peter’s appreciates the way the community has come together to restore this sacred place,” and he gives a special thank you to Troop No. 1 and Bella Terra Landscapes for the donation of their time, talents and materials. Community members and visitors meandering through Lewes are invited to take a stroll through the labyrinth at St. Peter’s and enjoy the peace and tranquility this special place brings.
