Brian John Walsh, valuable cement finisher

November 1, 2022

Brian John Walsh, 78, passed away after a short illness Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022.

He was born to John and Anna Walsh. Brian graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School, where he was a quarterback in 1962. He went on to play semi-pro for the Wissahickon Hawks. Then, he served the country for two years in the U.S. Army.  Brian became a valuable cement finisher and proud member of Cement Masons Union Local 592. There wasn’t an area in the Delaware Valley where Brian couldn’t wait to show off his handy work.

You could always find Brian fishing at a Delaware beach, or in the kitchen making one of his famous strombolis or soda bread. Brian was always there for a friend or loved one, whether it was to help fix an old house or build a new patio. Always the gracious host, Brian loved spending time with his family retelling and laughing over old stories, that never seemed to get old.

Brian is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol; and his three children, Deanna (Jim), Kevin (Rebecca), and Erin (Ed). He loved being Pop-Pop to his eight grandchildren: Eddie, Kyra, Lauren, Matthew, Maya, Seamus, Kieran and Leah. Brian is also survived by his brother Richard (Sandy); and many nieces and nephews. Brian was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Pat.

There will be a private life celebration for family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, stjude.org.
