Brian Lovett of Allentown, Pa., swam, biked and ran to a 1:10.26 top-place finish in the 20th annual Dewey Beach Sprint Triathlon Sept. 17.
More than 670 triathletes registered for the annual event, with 554 actually finishing the race on a day with ideal conditions. The swim was shortened to 4/10 of a mile instead of the planned half mile due to rough surf.
“It was a great event,” said triathlon director Ava Cannon. “We were very honored to get the acknowledgement for the state of Delaware for its 20th anniversary.”
The Dewey Beach Sprint Triathlon is a charity event that directly supports the Sussex Family YMCA Annual Campaign.
