Brittingham Farms in Milsboro hosted the Lavender and Lambs Festival June 17.
The Lavender and Lambs Festival was a delightful experience for the senses. It was a bright June day full of pleasant sights, relaxing smells and the undeniably funny language of lambs. Guests were warmly welcomed to wander the farm. Local vendors displayed their wares, food trucks were on site for hungry bellies, and cool cups of lavender lemonade were available in the charming farm store. Children had the opportunity to feed visiting local farm animals and take a little pony ride. It was thoughtfully decided that a limited amount of tickets were available, which locals and visitors could appreciate.
Owners Laura and Jon Brittingham greeted guests throughout the day, sharing the Brittingham Farms story and answering questions. The farm is not only rich in history, but it’s also a present day piece of the Sussex County community. While lavender is known for its relaxing properties, it is also an ingredient used in cooking. Local chefs and restaurants purchase Brittingham Farms lavender for their kitchens. Brittingham Farms is also proud to be one of only 100 U.S. private breeders of the rare and threatened Leicester longwool sheep. Anyone visiting the farm or viewing photos online can see why it’s a great venue for intimate occasions.
