Bryan brothers capture third consecutive Wimbledon Invitational title

August 24, 2024

Mike and Bob Bryan have once again demonstrated their enduring legacy in tennis by capturing their third consecutive Wimbledon Invitational Title. Widely regarded as the best doubles team of all time, the Bryan brothers retired from the professional tour in 2020, capping off their illustrious career with a victory at the Delray Beach Open.

Since retiring, they have remained deeply involved in the sport, particularly in nurturing the next generation of American tennis stars. Bob serves as the head coach for the U.S. Davis Cup and Olympic teams, with Mike playing a supportive role alongside him.

In addition to their coaching commitments, the Bryan brothers have also competed in select professional invitational events that bring together top former champions. The 2024 Wimbledon Invitational was no exception, as they advanced through the rounds to defeat the formidable team of James Blake and Bruno Soares in straight sets. Soares, a multiple-time Grand Slam champion, retired just last year.

In the finals, the Bryans faced the recently retired Kevin Anderson and multiple Grand Slam champion Lleyton Hewitt, securing their victory in straight sets. The invitational circuit pits the best of the former champions against each other, and the Bryan brothers continue to dominate this elite competition.

Their co-coach Dave Marshall said, "While Mike and Bob have retired from the pro tour, they are lifelong learners in pursuit of excellence. Whatever they compete in, they do with the utmost professionalism. I know I am happy to still be able to share the court with them as their co-coach as they continue to compete and win invitationals at the majors. They have continued winning at the Australian, Wimbledon and US Open. Being the best is not a sometimes thing for them; it is a commitment to the game for life. I am proud to still work with them at the majors, and my current tour players Edouard Roger Vasselin, Giuliana Olmos and others. They set an example for any tennis player, no matter the age – respect the game and keep going."

The Bryan brothers' continued success serves as an inspiration to all who love tennis, showing that with dedication and respect for the game, excellence knows no bounds.
