Bunny Mellon bio is May 16 History Book Festival discussion topic
The Lewes Public Library will host its monthly History Book Festival discussion from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, in the medium meeting room. Members of the public are invited to attend the free event.
The discussion group meets the third Wednesday of each month to discuss several of the books featured at the 2017 History Book Festival and new books that will be featured at this year’s second annual History Book Festival set for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28 and 29, in Lewes. A library staff member facilitates the discussion groups. The History Book Festival stocks a limited number of the books to be discussed; they are available for checkout at the library’s circulation desk.
Participants in the May 16 group will discuss “Bunny Mellon: The Life of an American Style Legend,” by Meryl Gordon, a 2017 festival presenter and New York Times best-selling author. Mellon was a style icon and American aristocrat who designed the White House Rose Garden for her friend President John F. Kennedy, and served as a living witness to 20th century American history. She operated in the high-level arenas of politics, diplomacy, art and fashion.
