Burger King partners with Cape junior class to support 2013 prom

September 21, 2012

Burger King on southbound Route 1 in Midway has partnered with the junior class at Cape Henlopen High School to support the class and the 2013 prom.

For each touchdown scored this season during home games, Burger King will donate $25 to the junior class. Franchisee Frank Czerwinski said, "It's starting off to be a really exciting season for the Vikings, who scored seven touchdowns in their first home game. We're having a lot of fun with the program and really enjoying watching the students' involvement."

The idea started with a conversation between Bob Bennett, president of the Cape Henlopen High School Football Boosters, and Burger King General Manager Joe Rubalcado. “We just started kicking some ideas back and forth and it grew from there,” said Rubalcado.

A check for $175 was presented to the junior class after the first game of the season. Shown are in back (l-r) Frank Czerwinski and Grant Czerwinski from Burger King, students Nate Griffith and Marshall Riggs, and Rubalcado. In front are students Matt Kane and Charlie Burton.
