Cafe Pink Blossom now open on Route 1 near Lewes

New eatery serves breakfast and lunch, seven days a week

After working for someone else in restaurants for more than a decade, newly married Yulia Tarasova and Can Yalcin have opened their own restaurant outside Lewes called Cafe Pink Blossom.

“Working for someone else was OK, but we wanted to have something of our own,” said Tarasova.

The couple opened the restaurant in early May on the southbound side of Route 1 south of Lefty’s Alley & Eats. The building has been three different seafood places over the past decade – Jimmy Lynn’s Seafood, Geyer’s and Beaches Seafood Market.

A deep cleaning, some fresh paint and minor changes were all it took to get the place ready, said Tarasova. However, it still took forever, she said with a what-can-you-do shake of the head.

Cafe Pink Blossom serves breakfast and lunch. Tarasova described the menu as an American-style cafe with items for all generations. For example, she said, there’s chipped beef, but also avocado toast.

“There’s a little bit of everything for everyone,” she said, adding that everything on the menu, including the juices, is made fresh. “It’s never frozen.”

Tarasova, from Russia, and Yalcin, from Turkey, came to the area more than a decade ago as students working summer jobs. The two have partnered with Yalcin’s uncle Oktay. Among the three of them, Tarasova said, there’s plenty of knowledge and determination to make it work.

“We’re really looking forward to meeting the Lewes and Rehoboth communities,” she said.

The hours of operation for Cafe Pink Blossom are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., seven days a week.
