Cann Duo pianists to perform on Coastal Concerts stage Jan. 11

Coastal Concerts announced the Cann Duo will take the stage at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, at Bethel United Methodist Church Hall, Fourth and Market streets, Lewes.

Sisters and pianists Michelle and Kimberly Cann will perform a program of compositions by Felix Mendelssohn, Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven and Maurice Ravel. They also will perform the world premiere of a composition by Michael Leibowitz, a composer and music educator living in Philadelphia.

The two have been making music together since they were in elementary school in Florida. Both grew up playing multiple instruments – steel drums, bassoon, violin, trombone and tuba, to name a few – but the piano was their first love. Since 2010, they have been performing professionally as a duo, touring extensively throughout the United States to present electrifying, multicultural performances.
