Cape boys’ lacrosse holds awards banquet

The Cape Henlopen boys’ lacrosse team held its end-of-season banquet June 20 at The Clubhouse at Baywood, where coaches presented season awards.

The Vikings went 16-4, garnering the Henlopen Conference championship before falling to Salesianum in the state championship.

Varsity team MVP was senior midfielder and face-off specialist C.J. Fritchman, who was also Delaware Player of the Year. Offensive MVP went to Luke Burton. Co-Defensive MVP honors were presented to Brody Smith and Mack Leonhartt. The Unsung Hero Award was presented to Brexton Carter. Varsity Most Improved Player was presented to Jake Hutchison. The Spirit Award was presented to Thomas Gibbs, and the Sportsmanship Award went to Ryan Pickard.

The Junior Varsity MVP award recipient was Mason Jack. Eric Uffelman received the JV Defensive MVP. Braddock Smith garnered the JV Offensive MVP. Todd Warwick was presented the JV Spirit Award. The JV Sportsmanship Award went to Tanner Wyshock. Alex Barth received the JV Unsung Hero Award. 

The Scott Brozey Lead by Example Memorial Scholarship was presented to Fritchman.
