September 17, 2020

A team composed of returning Cape volleyball players travels to Wilmington on Sundays to play in the East Coast Power fall high school league. Games are played at the 76ers Fieldhouse and are limited to one hour. The Cape team typically will play two games one hour apart.

The down-home girls also travel to the 76ers Fieldhouse two other days in the week for practice time.

There are 12 teams in the league including Cape, Ursuline with three teams, and another eight teams made up of players from Saint Mark’s, Delaware Military Academy, Archmere Academy, Red Lion Christian Academy, Padua Academy, Charter School of Wilmington and Newark Charter.

On Sept. 13, Cape won its first match against a mixed-school team called the Vipers, 25-15 and 25-18.

Cape then beat the Ursuline junior varsity squad 25-23, 25-21, before losing to the Bluecoats, a travel team, 11-25 and 10-25.

Volleyball teams are riveted on the next decisions by the Department of Education and then individual school districts.
