The Vikings football team dropped to 1-7 with a 55-27 loss to Appoquinimink Oct. 28 in Middletown. The Jags move to 5-3.
The Jags outscored Cape 27-7 in the first half. The Vikings followed with 20 points in the second half, but fell short by 28 points at the final whistle.
The Vikings got on the scoreboard in the second quarter with a 66-yard touchdown pass from Hank D’Ambrogi to Chancler Johnson.
Daniel Saez opened the Cape scoring in the second half with a 23-yard run. D’Ambrogi and Johnson hooked up again in the third period with a 27-yard TD pass. Cape’s last score came in the fourth quarter on a D’Ambrogi one-yard plunge.
D’Ambrogi went 10-20 in the air for 186 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed 13 times for 94 yards and kicked three extra points.
Johnson pulled in four passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Jack Schell caught three passes for 40 yards.
Maurki James rushed 15 times for 139 yards. Saez ran the ball eight times for 69 yards.
The Vikings will travel to St. Georges Saturday, Nov. 6, while the Jags travel to Smyrna Friday, Nov. 5.
