Cape football scrimmages Appo and Howard

August 26, 2019

The Cape football squad fought off torrential downpours and flooded highways Aug. 23 to travel to Appoquinimink to participate in a three-team scrimmage with the Appo Jags and Howard High School of Technology.

“Hank [D’Ambrogi] is looking really good passing the ball,” said Cape head coach J.D. Maull. “I thought our [starters] did good to start and then it becomes depth. We just don’t have the depth that everyone else has right now. I like the effort of our young guys. No one’s putting their head down. They’re all competing for jobs. Howard was No. 2 in the state Division II-wise and Appo was in the playoffs last year.”

The Vikings’ offense had good output during the scrimmage.

“We scored against Howard and we moved the ball on Appo,” said Maull. “All in all, I’m happy. So far, no injuries. I’m happy.”

The Vikings will travel to Indian River Friday, Aug. 30, for a scrimmage with the Indians.
