Cape Henlopen Elks visit Epworth food ministry

July 7, 2024

Each year, Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 of Lewes seeks and receives monies from the Elks National Foundation to support worthy causes in and around the local community.

In the spring, lodge members presented a $4,000 grant check to the Food and Love Ministry of Epworth United Methodist Church. Since then, Food and Love volunteers have been working hard to put that money to work. Elks members visited May 2 to see ministry workers in action.

Operations include food intake, food rescue, meal preparation for J-1 students, and operating the Good Sam mobile food pantry that provides bags of groceries to local families in need of food. Packaged goods, frozen meats and poultry, fresh fruits and vegetables are all distributed, along with dry goods and personal hygiene items.
