The National ProStart Student Invitational took place May 2 to 4, in Washington, D.C., where a team of Cape Henlopen High School students put their skills to the test along with nearly 400 other students from throughout the nation.
Jacqueline Nelms, a Cape ninth-grader, was interviewed by a food writer for the National Restaurant Association, who complimented her on her sophistication and knowledge. Nelms, Wiley Owens and Hazel Getzlaff have also earned an invitation to attend the ProStart Educator’s Retreat in September 2023. The students placed first in the management competition at the 10th annual Delaware ProStart Student Invitational held during March in Dover.
They were recognized by Gov. John Carney for their accomplishments.
