July 2, 2014

The Cape May-Lewes Ferry celebrated 50 years in service June 29 with a day of celebratory festivities at the Lewes terminal. The Lewes festivities followed a similar celebration June 28 at the Cape May, N.J., terminal.

The Lewes event included a car show, entertainment, a dedication ceremony, children's games, a showing of the WHYY documentary "Billion Mile Journey" and ended with fireworks in collaboration with Cape Henlopen State Park, also celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2014.
