The Cape girls’ soccer team finished its preseason with a superior performance over visiting Conrad.
Cape outscored the Lady Redwolves 7-1, with Lily Ashby scoring three goals, while Lindsey Swontek scored two and Brooke Hollingsworth and Claire Raisin hit the back of the net for single goals.
“It was nice to finish the preseason with three wins and one loss, only giving up three goals in four games,” said head coach Patrick Kilby. “Throughout our four games in the preseason, we really were able to see how much depth and versatility we have. I truly believe we can go out and play three or four different formations and be proficient in any setting. We get deeper when we get Lucy Siranides back in goal, which allows us to use Madison Nichols in the attacking mid or even up top. I believe we will have the best central-midfielders in the conference with the Swontek sisters and Claire Rasin.”
“I felt as though we did a great job connecting as a team and creating goal scoring opportunities,” said Hollingsworth. “Heading into the regular season, I have high hopes for our team. We have talent and athleticism all around on the field. Although we did lose a couple of great players, I believe my fellow seniors and I are doing a stellar job stepping up to fill that hole.”
The Lady Vikings open their regular season play Tuesday, March 26, at home with Laurel.
