The Cape swim teams picked up two Henlopen Conference victories over Dover and Polytech Dec. 6, at the Lake Forest Aquatics Center.
The boys’ squad defeated Dover 74-10 and Polytech 68-16 to move to 2-0 on the season. The girls are also 2-0 after downing Dover 83-9 and dousing Polytech 75-19.
The boys’ team won eight of the 10 races, while the girls powered to 11 straight wins on the evening.
“I was pleased with the way our team swam,” said Cape coach Bill Geppert. “It was a tri-meet, which meant that we could only swim in two lanes. We had to leave quite a few of our kids at home. Everyone understands that every swim is important, and the kids swam hard. We are encouraged for the season ahead of us as we saw a lot of good things.”
“I thought we had two great wins,” said captain Holden Tighe. “Everyone was excited to finally get into racing, and I think we set a good tone for the start of the season.”
“We had a great meet,” said captain Jenna Reinhold. “I think we had a lot of people step up and swim great times in their events. It was also really nice to come together as a team on the pool deck and support one another.”
