Cape unified basketball downs IR in DIAA quarterfinals

The Cape unified basketball team defeated Indian River 36-35 in overtime to punch a ticket to the DIAA semifinals against the winner of Appoquinimink vs. McKean.
After trailing by eight points at halftime, the Vikings outscored the Indians 22-14 to tie it at 33-33 to end regulation. Declan Morrissey hit a three to propel the Vikings to victory.
Morrissey led all scorers with 17. Cape’s Luke Burton scored nine, while Kayden Gibbs added seven and Zane Richardson garnered three.
Indian River’s Harold Toomey paced the Indians with eight, while Alex Gomez added seven. Elmer Hernandez scored five, while Chase Ruley and Roman Keith chipped in four each. Zaki Drummond hit for three. Chance Hocker and Donald Lingo each had two.
