Carmine Michael Mancuso, loved fishing, painting
Carmine Michael Mancuso, 86, beloved husband and father and long-time resident of Lewes, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016, of natural causes.
The son of Michael C. Mancuso and Mary Colletta Mancuso, Carmine ("Mike") grew up in the Ozone Park neighborhood of New York City and served in the U.S. Air Force early in his career. Eventually, he moved to Wilmington, working in the accounting departments at Delmarva Power & Light Co. and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Delaware.
Mike retired with his wife, Joan C. Mancuso, now deceased, to Lewes in 1997.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Manette Mancuso of Palmer Lake, Colo.; his sons, Michael Mancuso of Bear and Mark Mancuso, of New Castle; daughter-in-law Ellen ("Marie") Mancuso of New Castle; and stepdaughters Amy Wyatt of Lolo, Mont., Chris Wenker of Bishopville, Md., and Deborah Gouert of Milton. His grandchildren are Katherine Mancuso of New Castle, William ("B.J.") Mancuso of Bear, Lindsay LaRue of Milwaukee, Wis., Shane VanSciver of Dewey Beach, Mollie Montgomery of Paris Island, S.C., Casey Wenker of Rochester, Minn., and Charles Gouert of Newark. Preceding Mike in death was his grandson James Ryan VanSciver. Mike is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Imani Mancuso, Kasai Mancuso, Isaiah Mancuso, Enrico Mancuso, Kaitlin Mancuso, Zoey Sisson, Christopher Montgomery and Jaxon Montgomery. His great-great grandchildren are Aliyanna and Savannah Mancuso.
Upon retiring to Lewes, Mike continued a life-long passion for outdoor sports, especially fishing, and he discovered a new passion for watercolor painting. Despite taking up painting later in his life, Mike completed dozens of landscape watercolor paintings and enjoyed taking art classes to hone his techniques. Those pursuits, along with his participation in bowling and poker clubs and his strong interest in world events and politics, shaped much of his life in Lewes.
Mike was a loving partner to his wife, who passed away just weeks ago. Their love story continues now and this brings comfort to the family who misses Mike so much.
