Carol Ann Wilson, loved car rides, shopping

Carol Ann (Burton) Wilson of Millsboro passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2023. She was born April 16, 1939, in Lewes, daughter of the late Robert Carlton and Ethel (Schmierer) Burton. She graduated from Rehoboth High School Class of 1958. 

Carol worked at Funland as a teenager, selling tickets, worked at the five and dime, and made yummy caramel corn at Dolle's. She met her future husband on Rehoboth Avenue cruising the circle. They were married in 1960 and led a full life raising kids and working a chicken farm. She worked in retail and food as a cashier and in management well into her 70s. In retirement, she loved her game shows, especially “Family Feud” and her soaps. She loved taking car rides, shopping and stopping for a hot dog. She enjoyed working in the yard, and watching and feeding the birds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Ronald P. Wilson Sr.; and her two older brothers, Robert Burton of Burnsville, Minn., and Donald Burton of Lewes; and many close friends. 

Carol is survived by her four children, Corinna Conway (Brian) of Seaford, Ronald P. Wilson Jr. of Millsboro, Ulysses R. Wilson (Maxie) of Laurel, and Kathleen C. Anderson of Millsboro; two brothers, William Burton (Patricia) of Rehoboth, and Wayne Burton (Mary Ann) of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Hope Myer of Greenwood, Roger Wilson of Laurel, Beth Myer of Laurel, Stacy Shields of Laurel, Blake Anderson of Laurel, and Hunter Conway of Seaford; and amazingly, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 25, at Watson Funeral Home & Crematorium, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Carey’s Cemetery, Millsboro.
