Carolyn W. Halleck, loved the beach, animals
Carolyn W. Halleck, 93, passed away after a brief illness Saturday, April 8, 2023, in Lewes surrounded by family.
Born in 1929, Carolyn grew up in Hempstead, Long Island, and attended Skidmore College. After marrying, she lived in Potomac, Md., where she was very involved with the equestrian community. She later moved to Little Compton, R.I., to raise her family, and eventually retired to Lewes, where she was able to be closer to her adult children and one of her great loves, the beach. She also adored knitting, gardening, and all animals. Over the course of her life, she rescued and cared for hundreds of animals. She leaves behind her five cats, Squeaky, Alfi, Buster, Vinnie and Suzy-Q.
Carolyn is survived by her brother, Bill Wood (Julie); seven children, Holly Patton, Chet (Barbara), Todd (Nance), Heather, Heidi (Lisa), Bill (Tom) and Hope (Sharon); nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; as well as many loving family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 17, at her home, 113 Beach Plum Drive, Lewes, with a reception to follow.
