U.S. Sen. Tom Carper stopped by Milton Sept. 16, to see the progress on the Milton Theatre’s new balcony and to tour the facility.
While the balcony is closed to the public while work is ongoing, Carper and Director Fred Munzert discussed the balcony from the theater stage.
The balcony was an original feature of the building, but it was removed in the 2000s. Since the Milton Theatre Renaissance Initiative was announced in 2018, restoring the balcony has been one of the top priorities. Work began in the spring, with the concrete and steel framework finished in June. Still to come are installation of seats, a new drop ceiling and safety railings. The theater anticipates opening some seats in the balcony this fall.
